Just put a '93 351 in my '90 F150 in place of the tired (178K) 302. Thanks to you all for your help. It made the job way easier. The only hiccup was the Y-pipe, the 351 right manifold had a different angle than the 302, so had to do some surgery on the pipe in addition to widening the pipe approx. 2 in. Again, thanks without FTE this would have been a much more difficult job.
hi i was going to do the same thing and was wondering what all it took to do this like the ecm the knock sensor i read somewhere on a 351 it didnt have so what did you for that does the computer make up for no knock and any small things you ran across would be nice to know thanks in advance
I did the same swap. The ypipe like stated above. Also make sure you are running the correct flywheel. The balance for a 351 and 302 is diffrent. For the nock sensor I just pluged it in and zip tied it to the back of the block. I have had it in for over a year and no problems. I do have a check engine light on. I haven't pulled codes but it could be any thing. It runs good so I'm not worried about it.
Wag53, I'd like to talk with you about the swap. I'm considering the same only the driver is currently an 89 F-150 302 AOD and the loaner is a 94 F-250 5 speed. I'm not sure I can even make it work. Any thoughts.

Yeah.. that'll work, just get the 5.8/AOD flywheel and use the computer from the '94, it's for an manual truck so it's not looking for input from the tranny.
P.S. I just left my knock sensor disconnected.. but I did the MAF conversion at the same time and the Mustang ECU doesn't use a knock sensor.
