I apologize for the repeated question. Is the 302 HO and the 351W HO each have their individual HO engine? Is the oil sending unit in front on a short pipe? I have this engine that resembles a 302 but it is supposed to be a 351HO. the air filter housing say"4V 5.8LHO ". the carb is 4V ,the intake is only 9 to 10 inches across the width.
thanks TRUCKLOVER
The 351W looks like the 302 except it has a taller deck height by about 1 1/2" which makes it a little wider across the top (intake width). The oil sending unit on my 351W is on an extended pipe off the front driver's side of the engine.
I have INFOn my engine.on the top of the block between the two rows of lifters is "351W CPIor1 7". the intake # is E6TE-9425-0A
the exhaust manifold Left # is E5TE8431BA;Right # is E5TE9450BA.
the width of the intake itself is 11 inchs.
is it 302 or 351? thanks again.Trucklover.
If it is the original engine in your Bronco, and is a 351 H.O.,then look at your VIN.The 351 would be an "H" code, while the 302 would be an "N" code.1987 was the last year for the 351-4V H.O. engine. In '88,the 351 got EFI.I'd say you have a 351 H.O. in it,judging from your desription of it.

You are all right. there is so small a difference in the physical size unless you know what to look for its not easily seen. I finally see it.
