Well, in the SE where I live, MSRP on that truck is $33390 with an invoice of $30185. That's an '08 F-150 XLT ext cab 6.5ft bed styleside 4x4 with the 5.4 V8, tow pkg, 3.73 and larger tires.
Down in GA, numerous dealers take $7k-10K off MSRP all the time, so I'd look to pay no more than $26,000 before tax, tag, title. Very possibly even a bit less than that. I'd expect the pricing on the new '07's to be real close to that also.
I have to admit I'm a little amazed myself. GM dealers can't come close to those kind of deals on their trucks. Obviously they're BIG volume dealers, but possibly Ford outsourcing more to Mexico and elsewhere could contribute to this, while GM gets hammered by the unions in the US??
Send me a PM and I can give you some info on the dealers I'd recommend here in the metro Atlanta area. I don't know what kind of deals you can get down there, but maybe it'd be worth a trip up here to do the deal?
GM, Ford, Dodge, will all cut great deals on new trucks. However deals are location based, season based, and model based. The last gen chevy trucks were selling for dirt cheap the last couple of years with huge disscounts. Now the new chevy tuck will sell for very close to MSRP.
ALSO
The big three all source products to Mexico. But I believe that Dodge is the only truck made in Mexico. F-150 is made in Virgina and Michigan. I don't know were they make chevys.
Be carful traveling long distances to fine rebate trucks. sometimes those rebates are only good to resident of a specific area. I bought my truck in Michigan but live in Iowa and the dealer had to check if the rebates he offered were valid for Iowa residents. Turned out that they were becasue they were Mid west location based.
