need help

I have a 2001 F250 diesel 7.3 that I bought from dean arbor ford in Pinconning mi not even two years ago. We went on a road trip to visit family and it started humming constantly, as if I were driving on the sleep strips on the side of the road. Took it to a dealership, it now needs a right and left front axel assembly/bearing assembly put in it. Can anyone explain to me exactly what that is. Is it something I can do on my own or should I pay the dealership over two-grand to fix it???

Not even a year ago (12/06) I replaced the hubs, rotors, brakes, calipers and many other parts under the hood. Also in June of 06 the whole front end was replaced by <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:State w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Michigan</st1lace></st1:State> truck spring. Surprise! They only warranty their work for 90 days, seems to me as if <st1:State w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Michigan</st1lace></st1:State> truck spring took us for a loop and over a grand.

We have the book about the diesel but it is not very informative on the axel assembly.

Any suggestions or explanations would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Shawn and Jess
