Dash warning lights

Just wondering what the norm is? When i turn the key on most lights come on then go out . Sometimes i see the wrench other times not. Sometimes the engine light stays on till i start the truck,sometime's not . One light i've never seen is the water in fuel.

i always see the water in fuel when i key on, but it goes out right away, never really paid attention exactly to which lights come on at power up.

i do believe the users manual tells you exactly what lights you should see upon power up, read that and compare it to what you actually get.

They should all come on when you first turn on the key, as a bulb test.

From the 2004 Owner's Manual:

Warning lights and gauges can alert you to a vehicle condition that may become serious enough to cause expensive repairs. A warning light may illuminate when a problem exists with one of your vehicle’s functions. Many lights will illuminate when you start your vehicle to make sure the bulb works. If any light remains on after starting the vehicle, have the
respective system inspected immediately.

there's your answer. in my vehicle (o4 crew cab ) my water in fuel light is yellow and in the top left corner of gauge cluster. almost like the low fuel light, it looks a fuel pump with about 3 rain drops falling on it
