My key pad works intermittently. I cant ever guess when it is going to work.It is unreliable.
I have read some previous post on this subject but I still dont know where to start.
When it dont work:
Enter code and the driver door and the passenger door just jumps a little. It will not lock or unlock, just jumps a little. In the near past, the driver door would not work but the passenger door would.
When it works it works perfectly.
Cant determine a direction to take to diagnose the problem.Any ideas?

If your interior light does not funtion when you've completed your password, then the contacts on the number pad is most likely dirty or corroded. This was the case in my supercrew, and I removed the interior door panel (no easy job) and took a pencil errasor to the contact points behind the number pad. After 2 years, the problem has returned though.
Ford had a lot of water contamination problems with the keypads and that was my first thought also. But he says the fob duplicates the problem too......
It's the door lock actuators. Do a search and you will find several threads on it. The first door is a little tricky, but the second will be easier. The first door took about 3 hours, the second took about 30 minutes.
