Door activated dome light

I noticed last night that my dome light no longer turns on when I open my drivers door. The passenger door works and I can see the little button on that side. Where is the button that activates it on the drivers side? I was working in semi darkness but could not find it. Anyone know of any reason this would stop working?

P.S. Did the clasified forum get taken away? I want to sell my roll bar but can't find where to post it. Thanks.

Well, on my 96 it is on the inside of where the door closes near the hinges. I would assume yours is the same. Maybe in the daylight you will be able to see it. Or maybe it broke off? It screws in on mine. Hope this helps.

Sounds like it broke. It's in the same spot as the R side, and looks identical. It'll be a pain to fish it back out because you have to remove the big aluminum e-brake pedal bracket (after dropping the steering column) to get into that kick.

Well I found it in the light. On the drivers side it is actually different than the passenger side. On the D side it is below the striker bolt as opposed to on the side with the hinges. I think I may have a loose connection because after playing with the button for a bit I got it to work again. Thanks.

Those ground to the sheet metal. If it is loose or just not sitting right, it won't ground. Usually these are fixed the same way yours was, by messing with it for a bit. If you want to be sure of it, unscrew it and sand down the area where it touches the door, and screw it back in.

That's weird. My '96 Bronco had both by the hinges.
