Chrome Grille Surround for 2001

Chrome Grille Surround for 2001
I recently purchased a 2001 Exp. XLT. Unfortunately it did not come with the chrome grill surround. I would like to install the chrome grille surround to replace the painted one.
Are these hard to locate?
Are they hard to install?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

this can be easily done. all the fasteners are pretty obvious....except the large "clip" on the engine side. (i took my surround off to replace the grill insert in my expy).
for your '01, any surround '99 and newer will fit (second generation of the original body style).....the '97/'98 will not.
older expys are becoming more numerous in the wreck yards.

You seem quite knowledgeable about this.
I am also interested in changing the bumper to the full chrome bumper (mine is damaged) on the earlier models with the fog lamps in the bumper from the earlier models. Is the full chrome bumper from a '97/'98 and will it fit?

let's see if i can make this clear....
first gen expys are '97 thru '02. seems simple, except there are two iterations within the first gen- variation one (or "early", ie '97 and '98) and variation two (or "late", ie '99 thru '02).
with regards to front end parts, these 2 variations are NOT interchangeable!
look carefully at the front end of your '99. notice how the bumper has a dip in it, and the top bumper pad and grill surround have a matching and corresponding dip? '99 thru '02 have the same configuration, and so these parts are interchangeable in these variation two years.
now find a '97 or '98. easiest way to find one in any parking lot is to look for the big chrome bumper. notice along the top of the bumper- no dip. no dip in the bumper, top pad or grill surround. NOT interchangeable w/variation two.
so.....unless you want to change out a lot of parts that you may not have to in order to get the big chrome bumper from the '97,'98 expys, i wouldn't do it.
you can get the fog lights you evidently are looking for by finding a '99 or later bumper in your local wreck yard. have you checked that you have the wiring harness in place????

I am actually after the big chrome bumper. I notice there is a filler in between the grill and bumper in the 97/98's and the 99-02's. I am trying to determine whether I have to change the grille surround/grille, filler and bumper to convert to the chrome bumper or if I could use the chrome grille surround & filler off the '01 and with the chrome bumper off a 97/98. It appears not according to your description.
