Since I have the turbo out I thought it would be a good time to change the glow plugs and check out the wiring under the valve covers. I was wondering if it was ok to reuse the valve cover gasket? Im also going to check on the rocker bolts and injector bolts and retorque them but do I need to retorque the head bolts and if so does any one know the torque setting on them.
no need to retorque any of it, no need to replace the glow plugs unless they dont ohm out, inspecting the uvc harness isnt a bad idea and yes the gaskets are reusable unless of course they are melted
Good thinkin. You may as well replace your Glow plug relay while your there. Yes you can reuse your Valve Cover gaskets. Just when you are all done make CERTAIN the electrical connector on the inside is seated properly. The torque spec for the Rocker arm bolts is 20lb-ft. You shouldn't need to worry about the head bolts, but if you so desire, the spec for those is 95lb-ft. Would also be great time to throw in a set of Stage 2 or 3 injectors....
I would love to replace the injectors but my wife is about to kill me right now. Im already replacing both front hub assys and I figured with the amount of miles that I have I should rebuild the turbo and also do a little up grade to it as well and I cant forget the gauges that I need to keep an eye on it so I would just like to inspect and make sure everything is ok for now.
is it normal for the injector bolts to be loose? The are turning quite a bit like they were not even tight. All of the rocker arm bolts were tight but is 20lbs of torque enough? It does not seem like much for a rocker arm.
