Kurt- not sure what your asking? With the drop axle, as long as you use either the extended tie rods or the brackets they sell, you should be fine with everything else. Mine was a little different because they bent the steering arms instead of what I mentioned above. Plus the PO, put some steering box in my truck that no one knows what it came out of, basically, a lousy job on the steering and wasn't set up correctly from the get go. I'll be changing that later to a Toyota box.
Havi- you know, honestly, I haven't even looked. But now my curiousity is there. Any idea where to look for a serial number? 70's F150? I know what mine looks like since I've stared at it long enough... LOL... I can do a search on the internet also.
Is the steering arm at the drivers side wheel located too high I.E. does the link between pitman and front axle sit at too much of an incline with the stock spindle and dropped axle? Kurt G.
Ed,
A few kind words tend to take some of the sting out of such a project. So you should be feelin pretty good about now. Great job looks awesome. Now go bandage up and get ready for the next project. 4 link???. Joe
Again, as I said before Ed ( Imlowr2), your truck just looks too fine. It has a perfect stance. Way to go if staying with straitbar F/E.
I would make it my screensaver BUT, I have Waynes ( B/B )on there right now.
CIAF- Thanks for the kind words. I don't blame you for using Wayne's truck. The pics of his truck don't do his truck justice. When you actually see it, it is one of the nicest trucks around. I'd use Wayne's truck for a screensaver too, but I used mine instead.
Yes Ed great look on the truck.
Not trying hi-jack but has anyone had any dealings with "Nostalgia Sids" out of Oklahoma/Nebraska? He advertises dropped axles DaBay and has a web site, http://ww.droppedaxles.com/ For the 53-56 he has 3 or 4 inch dropped. I would assume a 4 inch drop on the axles would be about the limit for safety reasons??

Reason: spelling
Bruce- I know this guy sells the dropped axles for $350 plus he charges you $50 for the core charge ( you have to send him your axle as exchange). plus you have shipping costs. Which means you'll pay about $450 for the drop axle only. I've only heard one thing bad so far about his axles. I know a guy who purchased a straight axle from him for his 40 Ford, the holes were stretched so he had to return the axle. The guy made good on it, but it cost him an additional $50 to return his. His prices are within the norm for a drop axle, but I'd look around, you can find better deals. I went with Mo drop because they have been around for quite a while and have an excellent reputation for quality drops. IMO- 4 inch drop is bit much and a quite a bit of stretch to an axle. 3 inch is the most I would go on a drop axle.
