Monsta -

You've had the FlowMonsta 40 on about 5 weeks now. Anything you don't like about it? How does it sound from the inside? Any complaints from the wife?

I have been thinking about having a 50 series installed but I just can't quit playing your sound clip. Every time I walk past the computer I just have to hear it... I think I am addicted.

The kids are convinced that we need that sound, the wife is a little more reluctant.

There is one thing that I do not like about it. The fact that I can only hear it when I am driving my truck!

Get one. You won't be sorry!

Go with the flow. I had a magnaflow and just didnt cut it. Had a local muffler shop try different mufflers. FM70 single out, FM70 backwards (by accident techs fault), single chamber, and a FM40 single and duel out.
All I suggest is have the muffler shop try different tips to tune the tone.

From a performance standpoint is there any difference between the FM40 and the FM70? Or is the 70 just quieter due to the higher volume? I'm looking for better flow without getting too loud. Something a little louder than stock would be perfect. I've heard two different FM40 sound clips but no FM70 clips, so I am unable to compare. Thanks for the info.

Hey Matt....
The week after Monsta installed his FM40 I put one on also. I put
the 40 on..with 4 inch tips. It sounds awesome. I've gotten nothing but compliments. It sounds great inside the truck and sounds even better outside. It's not too loud..just a really nice rumble.

Check this out...A friend of mine has the same truck..well, ok, he got the diesel..which I wanted but I couldn't justify the additional expense with the little trailering that I do...anyway..yesterday we installed a brake box in my truck..and a monster Reese trailer hitch..we had my truck running to provide some A/C while installing the brake box..and my diesel friend wanted to know about the FM40..he thought it sounded great!!!...so I think that's a pretty nice compliment...GO with the 40...you won't be sorry.

So I understand that Flowmaster's patent expired on their muffler design. And now I see several companies marketing the "Flowmaster design" mufflers. Is this fact ? Or just some made up B.S. to suck me in ? I like the FM 40 series muffler. This company (I'll see if I can find their site again and post it so y'all can check it out) says their muffs are identical in everyway to the FM, just less expensive. They have every model and series with just about every combo of inlet/outlet sizes and locations available, whaddya think ??

Here she is boys (and gals) the "FlowMaster-like" muffler. Check it out. I make no claims to know anything about this other than what I've read right here and am not affiliated in any way with this company. This is just an FYI;

Im not sure on the performance aspect, but the sound is different on the fm70(three chamber). My buddy has the fm70 on his excursion with the stock pipe and no tip. It has a lower tone. Its louder than stock and he say he can only here it when he steps on it. I did notice the low roar when he drove away.
When I did my testing (with a db meter), the fm70 was just as loud as the magnaflow. Thats why I went with the 40 to give me a little more sound and duel out.

Matt,

I have a 2002 F150 Screw, and I am looking at the Truxedo. How do you like yours?

Thanks
John

Does the 70 flow more CFM than the stock muffler?

Monsta-

Can you tell me EXACTLY what you did? FM 40 series....Dualed out? Single exhaust? 3" pipe?

I like yours and want to do the same. Thanks.

Thanks, I like it too.

I simply replaced the stock muffler with a FM40 single out. (Many thanks to Black Rhino!) I retained the stock tailpipe. The front of the muffler is flush with the stock pipe coming from the "cat". Since the FM40 is considerably shorter than the stock muffler, I had a small piece of SS bent a bit and welded up to the stock tailpipe.

Stock pipe is 3".

If you would like, I can snap a picture and post it here.

I have a 2000 V-10 4X4 ex. cab with 3.73 gears and want to put a flowmaster 40 on my rig. The web site only gives the 70 series as being available for the v-10. If the exhaust pipe on the v-10 is 3" isn't the exhaust on the muffler 3". The series 40 is supposidly 2.5". Did you have to neck down the pipes with adapters to the muffler. Give me details,I want a rumble under my truck!!!! Thanks!

It's done! The muffler was cut off, the FM40 was welded to the pipe going to the cat and a new, short piece of pipe was added to allow the tail pipe to meet the new muffler. 25 miles later, I haven't turned the radio on yet... I just like listening to that V10 rumble.

Thanks, Monsta, Lisa, Russell and any one else out there cheering me on. I could hear you chanting "Flowmaster, Flowmaster, Flowmaster" as the torch was lit, I didn't want to see it cut... I was tempted to leave the muffler be. As soon as I started it up, I was glad I changed it.

Brian, the part number of the muffler I used was 943043. It was a FM 40 Delta Flow. 3" Offset In, 3" Offset out.

As long as there is no annoying whine at interstate speeds, I may put the radio up on eBay... I don't think I will find any better music than the V10.

Thanks for the info! I did not find that part number on the flowmaster web site. The closest one was 943040 with 3"in/out in the delta flow 40. Was your flowmaster muffler a new release or an older version? The web site could be outdated. I just don't have any good shops near me that I can trust to guide me in the right direction. So I have to get all the info, order it and then take it to be installed. I can't wait!!! I need to hear the rumble of that v-10 under me, that stock exhaust has got to go!
