I recieved a recall notice for my 2000 Ranger XLT for a potential problem with the speed control wiring. just wondering if there may have been any other service bulletins issued for this truck. It is 2000 XLT 2 wd with 3.0 L motor, auto
has not been near the the dealer since I bought it in 2004 with 9600 miles on it.
All maintanence done at home. Any body know if service updates had been issued???
I don't know if there are any other issues or recalls but as for the cruise control. I would take it to them tomorrow. It's an issue that has literly burnt up a few trucks.
Ford keeps track of the recalls pretty well and they should know if your truck has not been in for one. If you have'nt had any recall notices sent to you since owning the truck then you probably have not missed any. When you take it in for the recall you mentioned, just ask them if any others were missed or need to be done. Even when I was the third owner of a Taurus, Ford knew where to send the recall notice so it could be taken care of. Hopefully it should be a short wait for you at the dealership.

I got the recall notice for cruise control wiring harness modification for my '99 Ranger in Friday's mail. Does anybody know if there is or has been a recall on the wiper switch, too. My wipers start and stop on their own, especially after making a turn. If there is, I'd like to get both corrected at same time.
I got that same wiper problem on my 99 Ranger 3.0L V6 auto extended cab. It seems like the wipers have a mind of their own, they wipe for two or three times even when it's not raining in Las Vegas. I haven't tried to run down the issue yet. I was able to fix the blower not working, bad resistor.
Called dealer again yesterday, they had gotten 5 units in and these were already being installed into vehicles and were waiting on more to come on backorder. But at this point in time as the truck is a 2000 I really fell that this is a minor problem and stays that way till fix is put in.
Does anybody now for sure what the SPECIFIC problem is? "Recall" and "fire" are what sticks in your mind from the bleach-blonde bimbo on the news. Is it just don't use the cruise til it's fixed, or don't use the truck?
Got my recall notice on a Friday, decided to stop by the dealership on Monday to see what was going on and to get an appointment to get it fixed. Pulled up to the service dept, walked in with notice in hand. Young fella behind the desk says cheerfully 'Looks like a Ranger recall visit and I'll bet you need this part (holds up part already in his hand)?' He said it would take longer to do the paperwork than it would take to put the part on. Sure enough, after a couple of minutes of keyboard work we were under the hood and a couple minutes later I was on my way home feeling very good about my Ranger and the service I had just gotten from my Ford dealer. I didn't even buy the truck from them but I will next time I need one. It's pretty easy to bash dealers as there are plenty of horror stories but once in a while they shine.
Looking at what they added (looks like a fusable type link) and where they attached it (some type of switch mounted just ahead of the brake fluid resevior) I would have to think the fire hazard has something to do with brake fluid starting on fire maybe caused by the mentioned switch getting hot or something like that. I suspect the switch is used to sense the brakes being applied and shuts the cruise down. The notice said to fix it right away as the cruise didn't need to be activated to cause the possible fire. So it's probably a good idea to get it looked at as soon as possible IMO.

They have a recall for the wipers if it is 4WD or has power windows. My B3000 has neither so you have to buy the parts. Have wanted to find out if the Ford switch is the same as the Mazda for 99 because I can get it quite a bit cheaper through Ford.
