i am looking to purchase a low profile over the rail tool box.

just wondering what anyone on here had purchased..

i want a diamond plate black one low profile lid..

i was looking at the one from Home Depot (husky)

also looked at Tractor Supply.. weather guard and tractor supplies model.

what else is a good one and what should i expect to pay.

I have the black low profile one from Tractor Supply and havent had any issues with it. Around $240 which isnt too bad. Or check ebay and craiglist.

1091826 ?? maybe. My girlfriend gave it to me for christmas so I am not sure. I do remember they didnt have a picture of it on the website of TSC. I looked on mytscstore.com and that is the number i think it is. It was right at $240 though and couldnt get the price to show up on the site. It is their brand on the outside of the box, black diamond plate, but it is made by Delta.

Take note that most black truck boxes are simply painted black. I and my friend both have black boxes here in CO and we're both experiencing some flaking due to extreme sun exposure. Just an FYI

I purchased a black one from Home Depot. I like the box but its not a low profile. I would recommend that if you order from them that you request metal door latches, mine came stock with plastic and I'd have preferred metal.

Personally if I were to do it over again I'd get a Delta Champion low profile truck box.

I just went out and looked at my box for you. The inside tag says Delta Model #351212 but sold as The Tractor Supply brand. It has the metal latches, lockable, and allows you to slide stuff underneath the box still. I havent had any issues with the box flaking or losing any paint due to sun exposure. I had it for about a year when I lived in the middle of South Carolina where the sun is unbearable sometimes and now I am in GA and still no issues. I'm sure different brands are built differently. I have no complaints with mine though.

I used the Husky Low Profile from Home Depot on my 03' Truck. I think I still have pics in my gallery. I gave it to my brother and it still works great but I wanted something a little bigger on the new truck so I put in the delta pro and love it. Pics are in my gallery. I thought I wanted the black on the new truck because it is dark but I am glad I went with the chrome.

If you go black, I would highly suggest to buy chrome and get it Rhino'ed. That is what I did to avoid the flakeing, etc.

Rural King

I got mine at the local (Columbus, Indiana) Rural King Store. It is Rural King brand but made by DAWS MFG (daws part #73010754). It was only 199$. They have a huge selection of truck boxes(several diff. brands including Delta), far more than Tractor Supply. Dont know if you have a Rural King in your area, but if you do please check it out before you buy elsewere.

BTW: My truck is a flareside.

That's a great idea, how much did they charge you to Rhino the box?

I had my bed done at the same time, so I do not know if that helped with the price, but to do the toolbox, inside and out, $75.00. They also put a sealant on the tool box, not the bed, to keep it semi shiny. Still looks like the day they put it on.
