Audio/Visual Equipment
I have a 2001 F150 SuperCrew. As an option, some of them came from Ford with an Audio/Visual option that mounted from the cab and had a fold down screen. Ford is mighty proud of their version and subsequently are asking about 1250.00 as an option installed from the factory.
Does ANYBODY know of a suitable aftermarket brand that will not void my warranty? I like the idea of having the unit permanently mounted within the vehicle, but am not totally sold on the idea.
Thanks
Johnny
I also have '01 F150 Screw (Lariat), Sometime later maybe you can tell me more about your's.
There are absolutely tons of electronic after market items available for our trucks. Besides working a regular 40 hour a week job, I also have my own security company--well, to make a long story short, I get lots of advertisements from all sorts of companys wanting my business. One that has caught my I eye (not related to my business needs) for electronic gear is "DBL Distributing, Inc." (www.dbldistributing.com or,1-800-733-6766). They have permanent overhead systems ranging from $500.00 up to $1,000.00.
I check this site frequently, so if you have more questions post it here (under this thread), I will get back to you.
Best regards,
Probably the best money I've ever spent for a luxury item. No problems with it at all. The van actually has two TV's that fold up.
But if you can get it cheaper and have it installed That's what I would do.
Was the unit installed on the van an aftermarket thing, or was is installed at the factory? If you could give me the details on the item like where you bought it how much it cost I would certianly appreciate it.
Thanks
Johnny
Should have told you the first time. It came from Ford with the video package.
I wanted one in my Crew, but with the sunroof it wasn't an option.
But at a boat show I went to last February There was a place that has the vidio units you can purchase that hang like a back pack over the two front seats and the unit is suspended between the seats. It looked like a quality setup.
Beleive it or not I've seen these units at a Myers store.
If you have a car audio place where you live that do sterio modifications and things like that, they can probably do it.
I've seen them priced from $550.00 to $1000.00.
The one in my van is a VCP player. It plays Vhs tapes only, you can't record or anything like a VCR.
It sounds pretty good for me because I want to upgrade my audio system and get a video system, and this does both. Summit has it for $999.95. Here's a quote from the magazine:
"This Sony A/V receiver is versatile enough to serve as the source unit for TV, CD, DVD, MP3, and XM-Radio! It incorporates a motorized 7" video monitor which doubles as an audio display. Plus, it has two auxillary audio/video inputs, so you can add a VCR, Playstation, or other accessories. The receiver delivers 45 watts x 4 channel power and includes CD/MD changer control, EQ7 seven band equalizer and Dynamic Soundstage."
Summit also has quite a few other a/v systems if you're not interested in this.
Hope this helps,
