I had just bought a 98 F150, my question is can I level the front end by adjusting the torsion bars? (I had called a parts house looking for leveling springs, they told me I could just adjust the torsion bars and get it aligned). My next question is where are the adjustments?
I asked the local 4x4 shop about this a few months back... They said there are kits, but the easiest way to level the truck is to crank down on the torsion bars. I wasn't sure about his advice, but tried it anyway... I couldn't believe the difference. I tightened each nut 2 1/2 turns and it lifted the front about 2 inches.
First I measured the height from the ground to the top of my wheel wells, then I took the weight off the front end. I would only turn each nut 1 turn then recheck the height until I was happy (the adjustments are located almost directly underneath the cab). The torsion bar deal only takes about 15 minutes, but be sure to turn each nut the same # of times and have your alignment checked afterwards.
Now this probably wasn't the BEST way to get 2 inches, but it sure was the cheapest and easiest.
