I've got a 99 F350 SD and love the V-10. My question is if I could swap the motor with a newer V-10 when the time comes. Would it be an in and out job or would I have to change out anything because of the computer compared to a newer motor? Thanks
You would be miles ahead if you just bought a newer truck.
You will be swapping pretty much everything. Harness, dash, motor/trans and everthing under the hood.
When my 99 is on the way out I will start searching for a newer 3V.
The more I read about the 6.0 troubles the less I want to go back to diesel.
i'm not trying to take over this thread, but i have the same question.
what years are compatible to swap with the 1999 V10?
i understand that the 3V cannot be swapped into a 1999 due to the electronics.
i also know that in my case i have the egr - so am i limited to this year?
or can my egr parts be swapped on to a non egr motor?

My '06 6.0 was a dream. It was bullet prrof though. I don't think the 6.0 had any middle ground. Either they were junk or they were awesome. Not 7.3 awesome but not too far away.
