we does anyone know if i leave the 2001 complete with out the egr and buy a Mikes 5 star custom tune would fix any issues from not swapping the exhaust manifold and intake from the 99 and just run a hose from the heater core to the front i think that's all the difference getting ready to do this this Friday so please speak up soon Thanks guys

if your computer is programed to see an egr and you dont install it you will have a check engine light on until it is fixed .. and having egr is not that bad unless it is not in good working condition .. mine was good to go after 250,000 miles .. now that said if your place of living does a visual check and sees that the stickers on the valve covers or somewhere on the motor of hood says that this motor is equipped with egr and they dont see the egr you might fail that inspection .. just food for thought ... its just the one exhaust manifold and the throttle body and the intake ..
