6.8L V10 Engine Swap
6.8L V10 Engine Swap
First, I'm new here, so please get the pokes, jokes, laughs and "you're an idiot" out of the way. Thank you.
Second, I have tried searching my question on Google (which is now why I'm here) and also the forums. I haven't found what I'm looking for.
Okay, so I have a 2000 F350 SRW crew cab, Auto, 4x4. I'm pretty sure I blew a head, but everyone else says it's a rod. Doesn't sound like one but whatever. I made a deal with a guy who said he had a running V10 6.8L that I could buy. After he reasurred me that it would work, I asked him the simple questions. Year, PI, EGR, 2V or 3V... he said "I don't know, it's a V10 and will work." The motor needs a few things like exhaust studs and I'd like to change the plugs, COP's and injectors while it is still out. But before spending that money, I want to make sure it's going to work. What I do know;
It's a Canadian 3/2001 model.
The heads say PI
My truck known;
It's a Canadian 2/2000 Model
Factory EGR Delete
I haven't been able to get behind the heads in the truck to see if they're PI or not. I don't know if the new motor had an EGR or not since the Throttle body is missing. I need help. Some of that help, you guys should be able to point me to. The rest is for my therapist. If anyone here knows what I should be looking at or for to decide if the motors can be swapped, I'd love to hear from you. Also, will the truck need to be retuned or will the computer simply see it as the same motor?
If this was an old school carbed motor, I'd be answering questions lol. These newer motors... I don't know squat. I'll attach pictures as needed or requested.
Yes, I showed my age when I said a near quarter century old motor is newer lol.
