bedmondo, thats a beautiful truck and those wheels look great, can you get a different set of center caps for them? And how much did you pay?
mhg, I was looking at the chome 8's but I'm not sure how much I like the idea of chrome plated steel (the ford pickup ralley's are chrome too). How well is the chrome standing up?
thanks bob,
I got my wheels on "sale" at les schwab for 100 each. the center caps i got were designed for this style wheel, but i'm sure any other center cap with the same sizing would fit.
I went with the painted ones
would think the cragar chrome would be good
have had polished alum. in past and Im not
into keeping them cleaned and sealed on a daily driver
bedmondo, you must have got a really good good deal to get those for $400. Are they clear coated or bare aluminum?
mgh, I'm not too into the idea of steel wheels when they get chipped they will rust. I like polished aluminum because they are less flashy and pits and scratches seem to be less noticable
Those Rallye [sic] wheels (the first two links) are actually repro's of the old Corvette/Camaro rims, made with the truck lug patterns. I had a set of original 'Vette Rallye rims on my '90 IROC-Z for a while, and the wound up going on a friend's S-10 when I got rid of the car.
I would personally think that putting Bowtie Rallye's on a Ford truck distasteful, but that's just my oppinion. Take it or leave it.
Those Eagle Alloys are quite spectacular, and would look good on any Ford truck. I'd love to get a set for myself, but would much rather spend the money fixing up the body/engine of my F-150 first. Maybe in a couple years...
I'm kind of leaning towards either the eagles or the ultras, I see what your saying about the ralleys if I did get them it would be with the ford hubcaps. If anyone has any other suggestions just post a pic or a link
Thanks
bob,
yes i got the rims for 100 each, it was a special at our les schwab. i believe the center caps were 5-10 each, and lugnuts and locks for the 4 wheels was 25. so all together it was probably around 450. they are bare aluminum, so every once in awhile you'll need to polish them up, but usually a good washing will leave them very shiny.
I'll be putting on a set of M/T Classic 2, 15x10 (or maybe 12) on my 2wd 86reg cab lwb XLT Lariat. That's always been my favorite wheel on this body style, like one of the others said earlier though, just an opinion.
