I have searched and on here and on on the Internet. I was planning JW but when searching the BTS I notice they want more info when ordering like tire size gear ratio and such and for the JW they don't ask for that info. So is there really that big of a difference between the 2. I have the transgo tugger kit right now but the shifting seems sloppy. For instance if I run a tune (PHP) tune for modified VB it shifts ok but if I run the same tune for no VB mods It shifts more firm and quick it's almost on the verge of to much but it feels better than a tune without a modified VB. My Gearhead tunes kinda have that soft shift also but they are setup for a modified VB also.
It has been said that JW Accumulator VB's seem to be more user friendly with tuning. I believe all the JW VB's are set up pretty much same, so a tuner can allow for changes more easily and adjust accordingly. I liked my TransGo kit, but it takes some tweaking, DIY or tuning, to get just right. I had live tuning done and also made adjustments of my own, to the shift plate orifices, to get them to my liking. Shift quality can vary among tunes, VB differences, and trans components. It is not an exact science.
Well my original plan was the JW just because he is close to Oregon but of corse nobody has them in stock and My truck is my only rig so I can't send a core in first. When my trans was rebuilt they put the tugger kit in does that kit have that metal plate that you can drill out the holes to increase the line pressure? I would like to get live tuned eventually but seems like all the tuners are on the other side of the US
Yes. The Tugger kit uses the metal plate. You can enlarge the holes for each individual shift that you want to increase pressure. Enlarging the hole .010'' will make the shift slightly firmer and .030" will make the a lot firmer. Not knowing how it shifts now, or the hole size they drilled them to, I really can't give you any exact size suggestions. It's a "trial and error" type thing. Depending on how the trans was built, initial hole sizing can vary.
The locations of the holes and drilling instructions/recommendations can be found in the first post of this thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...l-article.html You may want to read through the whole thread. The E4OD-HD2 kit is basically the same kit as the Tugger, but with a few more mods/parts.

I may know of a live tuner in Oregon. I'll check tomorrow.
