I have a 2005 excursion with an a/c issue as well. The middle a/c will not come on. The front and very back operate fine, but the middle, no joy.
This is a really old thread that has to do with the control head and not the front/rear A/C system. Is your problem related to controls or to cold air coming from vents?
Also, there is only a 'front' (dash vents) and 'rear' (overhead or rear floor vents) A/C system. There is no 'middle', but the ceiling vents in middle of truck may not be getting air as they should from the blower in the rear passenger quarter panel.

You should create your own thread.
The ceiling vents are all part of the rear a/c. Often folks install a custom overhead dvd/tv and remove the ducts to those vents.

do a search, I remember reading somewhere that if you have the auto headlight switch and turn them off pause turn them on pause and then back to auto the ac panel will work.

This trick absolutely saved me hours and hundreds, simply turned the light switch off and on, everything lit up just fine. Thank you.
