You cant hammer the pulley onto the pump. It has to go on straight, or it will wobble.

Get yourself a Chilton or Haynes manual for your truck. They explain alot.

Your auto parts store probably has a very well-worn pulley removal/installation tool. They should have shown you how it worked before you left the store.

Best of luck with your truck.
Well, he said i was dumb b/c he said if you have to use a hammer, you dont have the right tool, also he said before that dont hammer it on, but some people he has seen do it by the socket/hammer, and i misuderstood and thought, well cant figure this out so i'll just cheat my way outta it, and he came in while i was beatin on it and chewed me out. Anyways, the high pressure hose would not thread into the pump so i took it back and got a new one, because i said the threads might be different and also "didnt tell them this but i probably broke the shaft" so in a little while i will go to napa and see if they have a hpressere hose that will fit my truck and if they dont ill see if they have the hose that will fit napas pump and if it does ill take the autozone pump back. This is the only time i have had probablems w/ autozone P.S. does the hpressure hose have to have the S turn in it at the bottom, does it restrict or make it less pressure b/c it goes down the side of the steering box and comes back up to connect to the top of the box? Weird?

Still looking for an answer on the prev. post ^^.

Update: Autozones hose fit the pump and was the exact same as the one on my truck before, but the old one would not thread in? weird? anyways, i put it on my truck and fired it up and no squeek, even turning sitting still "okay, theirs a tiny bit" but it awesome now that i dont have to yell when im talking to someone in the cab sitting still or talking while the motor is running "outside". But it worked good and i flushed it about 3-4 times, then filled it up "AKA filled it up then sucked it out w/ a suction gun then filled it up again and repeated til it was clear" . I hope this thread helps many people in the future b/c i now it helped me complete my job, even thought their was a few mishaps. Thanks again guys

Well now u know for the future. A little thing that i would recommend also is using lucas oil products especially their power steering additive. I have found it to really make steering smooth and it also helps with leaks. I never belived in it till i used it. I run straight lucas in my powersteering pump and love it.

That was poo pooed when I posted about adding it. It might not work in every case but it can help.

No intentional disrespect intended.

You did a good thing in replacing the hoses along with the pump. When I replaced the one on my truck I didnt replace either of the hoses. About 2 weeks after the pump replacement, I started seeing drips from a bad low pressure hose at the pump. Replaced the hose. All is well for 3 weeks, when, the high pressure line blew. What a mess under the hood. If I had just done it all at once... I am good at procrastinating.
