Good news. Back in June I posted a thread about my niece who was killed by a drunk driver. A quick backflash...She was a passenger in her own car. The driver ran a red light at high speed and colided with another vehicle. My niece Erika was killed in the accident. (I think they both had been at a bar and had been drinking). He for sure had been and I am pretty certain she had as well. At the scene of the accident, he got out of the car and tried to say he was not driving. He was not arrested the night of the accident. After two months of whatever it is the cops and legal system needs to do, he was arrested! He was wanted for something else and while at the police station he was arrested for my nieces death. He had been hiding and ducking the law since the accident and finally they got him. Thank you Berlin Ct Police Department!
> Now prosecute him to the full extent of the law.
I agree with that and make sure there is always at least one relative hanging around like white on rice or calling so no plead deal is ever entertained or the case "forgotten" by the DA.
Thanks to all for your kind words and support. I do believe there was some divine intervention in this one. Friday morning at 0930 the warrant for his arrest was signed. Somewhere between then and later Saturday he was arrested in a different town on a robbery charge. While processing him on the robbery charge, the cops saw the warrant for the accident. He will be charged with Manslaughter and could face up to 20 years in prison. His bail has been set at $200,000.00 and he still denies driving the car!
My sister is doing well and is getting a lot of support from the Police back home and from the Victim Support folks as well. And my sister also told me that my niece was two months pregnant.

In some states that would be a separate charge. Might even be a new federal law about that too.
> His bail has been set at $200,000.00 and he still denies driving the car!
In this case, they might want to wait until the robbery charges are dealt with and see if he gets convicted on that.
Nothing like a convicted violent felon denying he was driving a car in a murder to make a jury/judge a bit doubtful about his version of the story and wanting to make sure he stays behind bars for the rest of his life.
