is this the same thing as a overboost annihilator......
MAP Dual Relief Valve (DRV++)
Prevents the SES light from activating at boost levels over 22 PSI and prevents the engine from defueling from "excess boost".
This mechanical device is intended to be installed between the MAP sensor and the intake manifold on all Fords 7.3L Turbo Diesel.
Fits all 7.3L & 6.0L trucks, 1999+ with MAP sensors.
This device allows any boost pressures above 22PSI to be released so that the SES light is not set and the MAP sensor does not send signal to the PCM to go in to a defueling mode, if you are running high boost, typically found on aftermarket High Performance chips and programs.
The boost gauge through this connection will now only read a max of 22- 25lbs. The truck may actually go much higher if you are running an 80+ hp chip. To read boost above 22-25 lbs you must tap into the aluminum intake air horn, or buy our Air Intake Heater Eliminator with Boost fitting for 99.5 - 2003 7.3L.
LIFETIME WARRANTY!
* The Dual relief valve fools the MAP to allow you to go over 22, and with your stock Turbo it will hold a maximum safe pressure between 24-25 lbs!
* Varies between Engine configuration.
* The MAP-Maximizer (Formely MAP Mode), goes beyond that: It fools the MAP that full boost is attained within the PCM specifications, and allows you to run as much boost your engine can put out ..
Sorry about posting their advertisement i just dont want to leave anything out.......
i guess i need to check a couple connections then because i'm only reading 20lbs even on the 140 setting.... i cant get past that i could get it there even when i had that crappy d-fuser on....I know the truck id making better that 20lbs with the dp on
No it's not the same thing actually. That pop-off valve just releases pressure when it gets to a certain pressure. You create a boost leak you don't really want or need. The pop-off valve on my truck could still set a code. The valve isn't smooth, it fluctuates pressure 25-20-23-25-20-23-25 instead of the MAP regulator (annihilator) which makes the sensor see 23-23-23-23-23-23
And with that explanation Kris now has me sold. My DI boost relief valve is coming off and I just ordered the Annihilator. ITP's site says they are currently out of the units but they can still accept orders and expect to ship them in August.
That bouncing boost value that Kris speaks of is for real. I see it all the time.
I will sell my DI unit on Ebay with my throttle body spacer.
Jokes people, jokes.

Have you tried pulling your wastegate line?? I got a couple extra psi by doing that (up to 28ish). I think I was maxing out at maybe 22 or 23 psi with it connected -- your's seems a touch low. However, with the stock wheel it started to surge, so the WW went on. No more surge and it spools up real nice...
