ok i got some questions here guy's and i hope you can help me out . i was just reading { 3:30 a.m. } on hamb about a french headed flatty making 438 horses . ok i know thats impractical for us relegated to the reality of the streets but what i wanna know is what the hades is a french head !? are we talking about the ardun heads designed by the father of the vette zora arkus duntov ??? also you guys have any links to a good web site for bearings as in wheel . i need to get some inside info on a set of 'em to possibly swap the discs off of my 74/55 frame onto my 53's spindles or i'm gonna check on kingpin diameters and pursue a possible spindle / steering swap . any info is as always greatly appreciated .
The French used/made a modified Ford Flathead for their military until the early/mid 90's. A bunch were bought and mad their way to the States.
400+ HP is possible for Strip/Salt, lifespan is measured in minutes.
November 2005 issue of Hot Rod has an article on them and other parts for building flatheads, including all the Ardun stuff(which is back in business). try a search on Dick Landy and his 700 hp flattie for some really crazy s#@$
While they had the opportunity to correct some of the flatties' known deficiencies, they really didn't make any earthshaking changes. No full-flow oil filter, but a thicker deck and cylinder walls, as I recall.
I was just thinkin like they said in the Bible, can anything good come from France?? Seriously, I've always hated the French, but I would love to have some of them engines!!! If they have thicker cyl. walls maybe you could make some serious Cubes? I just love the sound of an old flat head. There used to be a purple 48 F1 with a Flathead and a blower, that went to the Supernationals, when it was in Pigeon Forge. It sounded so MEAN!!! Very slick truck.I haven't seen it in years???
yeah i'm with you . where do we sign up for one of these girls !!! a big inch flatty would be way cool . even though there is nothing wrong with the flatty in my 53 i'm sure i could makr sumpthin' up so i'd have an excuse , wink , wink !!!!!!!

Off topic:
Another reason to hate the French Government.
Despite pleas from gun collectors worldwide, France tossed over 200,000 Remington Rolling Block and Springfield Trapdoor rifles into the Atlantic Ocean in the late 1990's.

France has developed some good things, French Fries, French toast, um and cajuns though we really came from nova scotia, it belonged to france at one time

Nova Scotia = New Scotland. It was called Acadia when the French were there.
Cajuns, a dirivitive of Acadians. France lost the French & Indian War. The Brits said.."swear allegiance to the Crown (George III) or get out." Most left the area. Then Crown subjects were given the land for free.
I would love to have 1 or 2 mself, but then the reason I stick with m flatheads and Y blocks is because it's right, genuine Ford made iron from the forties and fifties.
I love the flatt sound too whoever doesn't is someone, I don't want anthing to do with, unless the are a girl, and hot.
