LOL....ya never know what ya gonna learn here....going from a carb hunt to Navy history....gotta love it...still havent heard squat from the guy on ebay with the carb...another question...I noticed a difference on the one he has vs the one I have as well as pic in the good ole shop manual...above the accel. pump on the top, I have seen others with what I assume is a type of valve connected to the accel pump as I recall...any plus or minus in the 2 variations...

I have the original carb that came off my 68 F100 360-2V C6 auto. And I think I still have the original carter pump. I've switched to a electric pump. I will have to hunt down the parts. I think the parts are in my storage shed, carb may be covered up in my garage. Will take a look and get the number for you if they will work. But your number search shows them different.

I had to re-jet the carb so it would handle this low octane unleaded fuel, with lead additive. With out re-jetting it pinged real real bad. But I guess you expect it when the low grade octane in 68 was 98, with prem 103 leaded. Now we have 87 Unleaded.

Many of the Navy's Assault ships were named after the old Essex Class Carriers of the same name in order to carry on. I know of a small campaign right now to get one of the future assault ships named the Hornet. Problem is the others are no longer in existence while the Hornet, Intrepid, Yorktown and Lexington are. Plus the F/A-18 strike fighter was named after the Hornet, although some of that may be because the other names aren't very catchy names for a strike fighter. Back in 2004 I was sitting in a restaurant on a pier with friends at Subic Bay. While having lunch we were able to watch the Navy ferry "supplies" right past us from one of their assualt ships about 1000 yds. away. Can't recall the number at the moment. On leaving we got waved through by quite a few heavily armed Marine guards riding our Harley's and black Excursion with diplomatic plates. So I don't think the supplies were toothbrushes...

Ah, that is a vent which I believe didn't show up until 1968 on the Autolite 2100 for cars. As for trucks I don't know at all. Number Dummy could verify. So my '65 has a 2100 without the vent although the boss itself is present.

The boss on mine on the beast is present too...although its a parts store rebuild and has a brass plug in the hole on the top...I looked at the shop manual and the parts book illustration...both show the boss w/o anything in there...It might have been 66 that the trucks got the boss punched thru and used...reason I say that is the ebay 2 barell(their sp, not mine) has it punched thru...and has a c6tf tag....for the life of me I dunno why the seller hasnt gotten back to me with the rest of the tag info...
BTW...what exactly IS the part in the top boss called, or is that still part of the accel. pump...
Im not the greatest at carbs, although I try like heck. I do appreciate all of you guys help in locating this bugger for me...

That hole is the external fuel bowl vent valve assembly. It was found that fuel vapors may form in the fuel bowl when a hot engine was stopped, idling or operating at very low speeds. So at low speeds the the accelerator pump lever overcomes the spring pressure allowing the rod to open the vent. At normal or WOT vent rod spring pressure closes the vent. I still don't think that vent assembly didn't show up on cars until 1968 and so I would be surprised if trucks had it earlier.

Hi Guys...the boss on mine on the truck is a round raised area about the size of a dime give or take...another thought crossed my mind...numbers might know since he too has a 65 and so on...Mine has the oil bath cleaner on it...would you think a later type with the fuel bowl top vent have enough clearance between it and the air cleaner...my guess is yes, but thats just a total shot in the dark.

Let me know what you think guys...

does anyone with the 66 shop manual have a good pic of the top of the carb in their book..Im just wondering what the 66 manual shows as far as the top of fuel vent bowl whether its asmooth raised boss or what...if anyone has a pic they can post here or email me direct that would be great..the carb stuff is in book 2 of the 65 set, so my guess is its also in the same book of the 66 set.

Let me know - cs65

I got a 2 carb sitting on top of a running 65 352 in my f100 with the tag. If I can figure out how to post pics I would send you one. Tag says FOMOCO C5TF Y A4HA

Let me know if its what you need

I'm pulling one off a 352 tomorrow. I'll see if it still has the tag.
