Just a question, on my 52 F1. Was there a "official" front license plate bracket of some kind?
I purchased a PA 1952 plate over the weekend. Its in great shape and I would like to put it on the front of the truck. I will probably just make some kind of bracket but if there is some kind of holder available I'd like to know.
97' today about 80% humidity and too hot to work outside so surfing on the web.
My 48s and the 52 all have the same thing just like the one shown in Havi's picture. Simple angle iron with slotted holes mounted on the right side of the bumper.
I decided to get out the parts book and it lists:
48-49 (1) 7RC-5034-A
50-52 (2) 8C-5034-B
So it appears they did change it then.
Probably because of the ribs on the '51-'52 bumpers. But my '52 doesn't have any holes to attach the bracket; it came (to me) with a center-mounted bracket attached to the lower valance, that sticks up above the bumper. (it had been registered in CO previously) Since NM has always (AFAIK) only used rear plates, I wonder if the brackets were dealer-installed?

Something else to consider. At that time, license plates weren't all the same size, as they are today. So the brackets would only work with certain plates.
There was no place for a front license plate bracket on my polished SS bumper (48-52 repro) and I didn't want to drill holes in it so I fabricated a bracket that attaches to the frame end above the bumper. It's not quite level here but I've corrected that since the picture.
