T-98 & T-18 share some internal parts like syncros and seals, but a quick glance at the myraid transmission parts numbers shows different cases, input and output shafts.
I would think you can as long as you have the right clutch disc and yoke. Do a google search to find the overall diamentions for both transmissions or t-98 to t-18 swap to be sure though. I find all sorts of info that way.
Early t-18 trannies had the same main case as a t-98. Thus, I surmise that they should be interchangeable. That is not to say however that the input and output shafts are going to be splined the same, or the same lenght though. There are notoriously many different flavors of t-18/t-19. Luckily all FORD ones interchange.
