I have a 1999 Superduty with a 5.4 when I press on the gas pedal sometimes the engine runs rough and doesn't go up in RPM's. Anybody have any ideas on where to start looking for the culprit?
how many miles, when was the last tune up, could be a few things, try cleaning the MAF, when was the plugs last changed, how bout the fuel filter????????
it has 130000, I just changed plugs, maybe I'll try the fuel filter. It's an intermittent problem, sometimes it runs good, just every now and then I'll press the pedal down and the truck just idles.
I was having a similar issue at 91000 miles. I did all of the recommendations on this sight. Mine would mostly seem like the power was struggling in rpms between 3000 and 4000 rpm. It was recommended to me to take the cats off for a test drive. When I disconnected them and drove down the road, I had more power than ever.
also try a can of seafoam in the fuel system. That got rid of alot of pinging and ticking noises I had and could also help with the power regain.
