I put one on my 95 a few years ago because it was getting rock chips on the hood. Still get bugs on the windshield. Maybe not as bad though, I don't know. I'll probably put one on my 97 when I get a few other things done to the body and funds allow.

Yeah I know I rear ended someone at low speed and it shift it back like that. I'm currently working on refinishing a winch bumper so it'll be fixed soon

The one that came on my '95 was a joke. It created so much turbulance over the hood at speed that the ws washer fluid couldn't even reach the glass. Had to slow down to get the bugs cleaned off. I tossed it.

My truck had one on it until about two hours after I got it in my hands. I don't worry too much about stone chips, and bug guts wash off. I, personally, think they're fugly, and mine made a mess all over the hood.

Chris, your truck kicks ***! Wish mine looked as good!

Thanks buddy!

And no, no updates on the bumper... I left it outside for a few days at my moms house and it rained so the whole damned thing got covered in surface rust again. I've gotten a lot of it off but I'm so sick of that angle grinder that I haven't done much lately.

You're welcome, Chris! I like it with the shell...I hope I can put a shell on mine before too long (but I'll need a tailgate first).

I put mine on in the middle of "Love Bug" season...

You could see the results immediately. Driving through a cloud of the lil' suckers joined at the butt was just like a wind tunnel test. The "cloud" just moved up and most went over instead of "on" the windshield.

Now what I'd like to do is change how it mounts to the underside of the hood with something like duzs fasteners so it can be removed easily.

I like the low profile ones like Skandocious has on his. I have a similar one, but since my truck is black it is almost invisible. It definitely keeps the rock chips and bug stains off of the hood. As for the windshield, I think it may help a little, but not really. I think the right ones look good on our trucks.

Mine have all come OFF.
I get better fuel mileage with them off.
On just raises the bug line up to where I look out the windshield anyway.
On might protect the leading edge from chips but I can't see the leading edge because it is covered by a bug shield. (That gets dirt & leaves trapped behind it)
The windshield washers work MUCH better with it off.

My Bronco came with a "deflector" that lays down across the leading edge of the hood, and it does keep it protected from rock chips, etc., but not bugs flying into the windshield. My F150 does'nt have anything, and so the windshield and leading edge of the hood are a huge mass of bug guts, since I don't wash the old truck... well, ever.

My opinion? A shield that lays down on the hood won't do much to keep bugs from dive bomb runs at your windshield, and won't really deflect any air over the roof, either. A long time ago, I had a "stand-up" type shield on a Ranger I owned, and it kept the windshield fairly clean of bugs, and the manufacturer claimed it helped deflect airflow over the truck's roof, which I'm not real sure of. I'm not sure if they even make this type anymore, though. Have'nt seen one in years, really.

I voted to keep the thing, btw. No real reason for it. Do whatcha think is best for your truck.
