Our very small back yard has been infested and over taken by Giant Cicada Killer Wasps. Hundreds of them. Big and scary. The males are very aggressive but, don't sting. The females are less aggressive but, they are the mean ones (go figure) and have a pretty bad sting.
$ 150.00 for the local bug boys this morning seems to have done the trick. I hope. The exterminater said he had never seen a infestation like we had.
Only a few in the back yard but the East side of the house is loaded with the *******s now.
Been dealing with theses bugs for the past six years. Last year, we tilled up the back yard, after their return to dormancy, and replanted grass. Now they are just around the perimeter of the grass. On the side yard they are flying in a frenzy.
Find out where they're "holed up" and burn 'em out, after they bed down for the night.
Or, as one of my neighbors would say, "Nuke 'em from space. It's the only way to be sure!"
(But then again..... that's his response to everything!)
Reminds me of "Starship Troopers"........They were having a bad bug problem too......."Rico! Nuke em!!!!"
All we get is yellowjackets out here, but they get REAL mad when you nuke their nests with a 10-22 then chemical attack them after dark.
Man I feel for you , we get the wasp's out here ,they make nests in my old farm truck , so when I Irrigate I have to start war just to drive my old truck , I buy a case of spectrasyde every two to three weeks, little buggers are fast and there sting hurts like war has begun tonight
