I have been considering the DP tuner. Right now I have a Hypertech programmer. Will I see a big difference that I can justify the $450 or so? I hate throwing money on mods that don't give me much more then I already have. Thanks
I had a hypertech myself, .......and yes its worth everypenny, I could not roast the tires in stage 3 with my hypertech now I can in all the tunes, the 60tow on the DP has more power than the stage3 hypertech. If you can afford it buy the chip and compare them in your vehicle once you do you will run to craigslist or ebay to get rid of the hypertech. It was only $380ish for what I got!
yes the mustang dyno generally reads lower than a dynojet, however that's not really the point...the point in the delta. Specifically the delta between stock and the 80 econo, theoretically it should be 80 hp?
Not necessarily. The HP setting #s have to have a name and everyone uses a HP# for that. I believe the higher you go, the more potential the tune has but not all trucks can take advantage of it as was evident by my drag strip #s in the 80 and 120. Not much diff so I may need to optimize something IOT realize the additional potential in the 120 from the 80.
As for the stock DP tune, it is not actually a factory stock tune from my knowledge, so any comparison to a stock tune would seem to require pulling the chip if my logic is correct.

My boost gauge also vibrates above 15 psi and at 25 psi it's real bad. The shop said all early 99's are that way. Is that true?
That sounds like an indication of surge. Falling/fluctuating boost gauge is a tell-tale sign. I didn't see that with mine, but I did hear a "PST-PST-PST..." sound at the upper boost levels. But you have an early 99 which are supposed to be more immune to surge than the lates. I installed the WW (same wheel as your early) and fixed mine. Not sure what you'd do, besides turbo/intake upgrades.
3.73 gears
I can't tell if tranny slips. How can I tell?
315 75 16 tires.
I have the same gearing and a little shorter tire, but that dosent matter, no a signifigant differance between the two. If your tranny is slipping your truck will build RPM's faster than its moving! You may not notice it until you get in the higher RPM range? If you really think you may have a problem, I recomend letting a profesional transmision guy or gal take it for a ride, get more than 1 opinion if in doubt!

I have 36's and i could never hear my early 99 turbo surge. It never made funny sounds(until it went out), when i got the late 99 turbo it sounded goofy to hear.

What brand of gauge do you have?
Gauges are Autometer.
I thought turbo surge was a drop in boost indicated by the boost gauge? My gauge just vibrates. From one end of the vibration curve to the other is only about 2 lbs. I can't feel it in the proformance of the engine, I can just see it in the gauge.
