Something dosent sound right! If I stomp it from a stop on 80 econ, I usually leave 15ft of rubber and another 5ft when it shifts into 2nd! On 140 settings, nothing but tire smoke, thats why I usually let her get rolling a little before I punch it!
What kind of gearing do you have?
Is your tranny slipping?
Do you have oversize tires!
Something doesent sound right!
Rich
3.73 gears
I can't tell if tranny slips. How can I tell?
315 75 16 tires.
I have DP tuner , i rarley brake them loose off the line. even with 140 smoke. Coudl this be a TC problem with it not locking enough? The truck runs great and is pretty quick it just dosent brake them loose with out power braking.

Same here, It feels more like it will jump a beer can than spin tires. But OMG it launches hard, in 120 Race off the line I can feel the transmission slip some. I guess it's maybe the TC slipping. Will BTS VB help me here?
If there is anything wrong, it could be one of these two things. You got an Early 99, you have AB injectors that flow less fuel, less fuel = less power. They also got the 15* HPOP so the next question is how is your Hpop pressure?
My early 99 turbo acted the same on the boost gauge as the 2002 turbo? Can't help ya there i guess. My boost gauges doesnt do that. It moves just like a boost gauge should.
IIRC
As far as dynos i belive you want a Dynojet, load dyno. The mustang is an acceleration dyno, what was your boost during the pull?

If I have AB injectors, what should I change to?
How ho I check my HPOP pressure?
Is a 17* HPOP ok in an early 99?
Will depends on whats you mostly do with your truck, and your budget. The 17* pump does work on the early 99s(i got one on mine i couldnt hold 1700PSI WOT on an edge box)!!!! Now i can hold 2700PSI no problem.
yes the mustang dyno generally reads lower than a dynojet, however that's not really the point...the point in the delta. Specifically the delta between stock and the 80 econo, theoretically it should be 80 hp?
FWIW when I still had stock injectors and a DP I dyno'd I want to say 360 ish on 80 econo. That was on a mustang dyno. Geez its been awhile I dont remember great. I dont ever burn the treads either but I think my gearing, weight, and tires might be a big factor in that one.
I have been considering the DP tuner. Right now I have a Hypertech programmer. Will I see a big difference that I can justify the $450 or so? I hate throwing money on mods that don't give me much more then I already have. Thanks

Don't forget, you can offset some of that cost by ebaying your programmer. I think based on what I have heard, you will still see a significant difference between what you have and what you will get.

I don't know what the boost was during the pull.
If you have an early 99, you could just go with Terminator and get a pair of new pumps for $2400 and then you could get bigger sticks and get rid of the AB injectors.
