Amsoil Products
I haven't been on in quite awahile, so this may have already been discussed. I was wandering if anyone has used Amsoil Synthetic oil, or their air and oils filters?
I met a rep last night at the Hunters Extravaganza that was really pushing his product. He tells me I can get 25,000 miles between oil changes! He says 100,000 on the air filters.
My 96 PS has 147,000 miles and I've always used Delo 400. No problems, but if I could go that far between changes, it would sure save some cash.
Any input is appreciated.

I have seen these questions posted before. My opinion. If the oil lasts that is great. But it still needs filtering and a change is good at regular intervals. Try searching these threads I have seen it here within a few months. I would NEVER go that long on air filters. I have an AFE that I clean manually and I pull more bugs out of it than I can shake a stick at. Think about it. Diesels pollute oil on a regular basis. Would you leave your sin for 25,000 miles. I wouldn't. Just My opinion, and I hope no offense taken.
Please don't take my opinion as gospel Please search here and wait for the true "pro's" in my opinion. We all are here to help and opinions help. You have mine for what it's worth. Please get a well rounded opinion.
i run there oil ive got about 50k on the motor oil right now but i run a bypass filter and have the oil tested. you might be able to get the 25k oil changes without the bypass but i would have the oil tested throughout the course of time and miles to make sure your still doing good. i think it can vary on driving conditions. i cant get 100k on air filters since my truck is a ranch truck and tows a trailer almost everyday. i only get about 20k out of an air filter and its done. im suprized ive been able to get this far on the oil but blackstone labs and one other lab ive used the numbers are coming back good so ill keep going. i change my oil filters every 20k or yearly. ive got almost 2 years on the trans and tcase fluid and it still looks like the day i put it in. when i was running fords synthetic mercon v in the trans and tcase it was burned after about 15k miles.
i think people could get the 25k oil and 100k air if there highway drivers but im not on the highway a whole lot.
i belive they have a good quality product i like it but everyone has there prefrences.

with out bypass filtration you can't get that kind of miles out of any oil. And our engines are a different beast than a cummins or other diesel. Our fuel injection system is very hard on oil. it places it under extreme stress and breaks it down quicker. I have never used amsoil products but i have heard alot of good thing about them but they are too expensive for my taste. and using sythetic oil makes my truck guzzle the oil up so extented changes don't pay out for me even with bypass filters becuase using synthetics I use 1 quart every 1000 miles. so in 10,000 miles I add 10 quarts of oil not to mention make up oil after filter changes. So I have gone back to Rotella 15W40 and will conitnue to use the bypass filter and 3-5,000 mile oil changes.

Amsoil is great stuff and worth the price...to me. I've been using it since my first truck, I now use it in my high performance car and race engines for snowmobiles. I run it in my PSD without any troubles. Just get oil samples at regular intervals and change when recomended. Good product.

Amsoil is an excellent product and is the only oil that beats Mobile one. I run it in my expensive harleys, performance cars, and am soon to run it in my truck.
I have to agree with checking it though on the PSD..the fact that pollutants are dissolved into our oil means that it's life will vary. It will protect and serve you better than petro oil even at the same interval. For those with heavy tow applications it will help you runn a little cooler, and in the tranny it's the only way to go!! The heavy gear oil is AWESOME!. My 2 cents as a satisfied user of 10 years now.

We bought our PSD truck new in 1996, and have been using Amsoil engine oil from the start. I went to it mainly because we travel towing a 5th wheel. I found it next to impossible changing the oil at the recommended intervals while on the road. I did install the bypass filters which I believe is a must. I've changed oil every 40,000 mile (out of guilt), but I do mail in and get the oil checked every 10,000 miles, and at which time I change the smaller filter. I don't believe that I've saved any money by using Amsoil over conventional. In fact it might cost me a little more. But the convenence and the added protection I believe I'm getting, is worth it. Check out their web sight, there's ways to save quite a bit of money over retail if you become a member or dealer.
