Ok folks,I got into a 2001 ford today that has a slight shake,I pulled the plugs and replaced all, gap .052, then the owner handed me 2 ox sensors so they are new, checked the wires they are from 7.6 to 5.54 ohms, I even took the egr valve off to clean it but it was in very good condition, my question, is it possible that the coil pack is going? I suppose I will due a compression test just to be sure, but the eng. is just so clean I might think that way if the thing was a beater but it is not. the only code came out #3 miss fire!
I would check out the injectors. The coil packs on those motors are basically bullet proof and when they decide to go, its not just one, its usually atleast 2 of the cylinders that go
My coil pack just went bad and it happened very quickly while going down the road. The code said #2 cylinder not firing. The truck ran, but it shook very badly like you described. Hope this helps.
