"Cleaning exhaust filter" won't shut off
So I just got back into a 6.7 last week! Sooooo happy to be out of the excursion. Anyway it's a 2013 and as soon as I turn the key on it says to "drive to clean the exhaust filter". So I do. The cleaning exhaust warning doesn't shut off after 10 miles of highway speeds. Time to go to the dealer?

it should revert to a message of cleaning exhaust filter after a few minutes.
If you just bought it I would consider taking it back in for a diagnostics if you drive 10-15 miles of hwy at 50 mph or so and it doesn't go off.
It maybe a bad sensor. Be sure to take a pic of your message center and mileage when you start out and when you finish...let it sit a few minutes and if the message is still there then you have proof.

Mine was doing this as well when I bought it a couple months ago. The dealer replaced the first two temp sensors in the exhaust with the updated ones, but left the two rear ones. I decided finally after being fed up with the continual cleaning exhaust message and small blue wrench in the message center that I would replace all of the temp sensors in the system. 125.00 and an hour later I had them all replaced with the new style and haven't had a single problem in 7,000 miles. I would look to see if the sensors are original or the updated style. you can tell by the nut. the old are a tall castle nut with round holes in the sides and the updated ones have just a hex head.

FTO- Why wouldn't they change them out under warranty?
Suzuki-It was turning on right away. What would cause that?
So I went on to I95 and it took about 15 miles at 75 mph and it turned off. Why does it take so long? In my 2012 it never took this long and when it did a cleaning it was only for about 1 minute. Why is this one so long?

Number of Miles
On my 2012 sometimes it takes 15 miles to clean. That regen happens every to 600 miles like clock work. The short regens right now are about every 180 miles.
If you get drive to clean message it means the trucks has not been able to finish a regen. So it give you drive to clean message, this regens should take longer as your DPF filter is FULL.

I'm Todd, and I'm helping out on Crystal's forums while she's on vacation. As I'm not a trained technician, I recommend a quick phone call to the folks at your Ford Dealer.
I'm glad the issue has resolved itself. If you have further concerns, be sure to let me know.
