Will a pan leak if its overfilled? I went down to my shop today to do a few things, one being the trans leak and it wasnt dripping anymore. Kind of weird. went from a steady drip, so bad that a fireman from the firehouse next door was throwing speedy dry under my truck two nights ago.

if it truely was the pan leaking it could leak until enough has leaked out that the fluid level is now below the pan gasket.

Is the fluid supposed to be below the gasket?

I can't remember but I think it is. Seems like the dipstick sticks down below the pan flange.

Is it possible that you spilled some fluid while filling the tranny and it ran down the outside of the dipstick tube leaving a puddle under the vehicle?
