Anyone know if a reproduction is made of the rubber boot or gasket at the base of the steering column? I'm looking for good new, repro or NOS part for a '77 F250. This part seals the steering column to the firewall. I have an intact '79 boot that is still in a parts truck, however it might be frail, and I'm not sure if it's the same part number.
I checked Blue Oval and Autokrafters and neither one list one for the 77. I went out and looked at mine to see what it looks like. Autokrafters has part # C7TZ-3513B FOR $19.99 that looks close, but their catalog shows it for a 73 TO 76 manual transmission.

1977/79 with Power Steering = D7TZ-3513-A
1977/79 with Manual Steering = D7TZ-3513-B
NOTE: Both these parts are obsolete, Green Sales has none.

Well since I can't get a replacement for the '77, maybe I should just use the whole column assy. from the '79. I think I remember seeing in an earlier post that it will fit. It looks to be a larger diameter housing with a plastic cover screwed to the lower part of the dash over the upper mount. The cover on the early unit is steel and is fastened on in a different way.
I am not sure if it would work but we use to make grommets to run wiring through steel bulkheads out of different size hoses. You cut a slit down the hose trying to keep it as straight as possible and then turn the slit to the outside and push the slit over the exposed metal edge. Cut the hose to the right length so that the ends butt and you have a grommet to protect the wiring. You could possibly get the right size hose to fill the gap between the column and the floor pan.
