Borgeson Universal Company :: Ford Truck 1970-04

Great replacement with no rag joint, otherwise try jeffs bronco graveyard or local pick n pull

Yes on the Borgeson steering shaft, great product.

You said "And I'm looking a D60 with 4:10 gears" so casually, I laughed out loud, cause this is not a dime a dozen axle you are asking about.

It's almost a mini holy grail, full of hens teeth. lol

To find a good 78/79 kingpin D60 w/4:10 that is hub to hub and ready to swap in, you are looking at 1000 dollars or more, just so you know.

And thats all because lots of other folks are too. They are out there and you can find them, but not as common as a 8 lug D44.

Happy hunting.

Yea we all make mistakes....ah I mean a error in judgement. lol

Maybe you can come across a cheap parts truck with twin D60's and a blown up motor or trans or a ton on rust or all 3 and that make's it cheap.

I have been looking for lower steering shafts for my 73 F250 too. I had a Borgenson in a 79 F350 years ago and it was fine but I'm not crazy about the set screws holding it in place. It was not serviceable either. I have been looking at building my own with u joints.

Wildhorses4x4 sells the ujoint and complete shafts too. I don't know much about them other than they were helpful on the phone.

You know we are talking about front axles right? The 1 ton is 2wd.....but yes the rear could be a D60 or even a D70 or D80 maybe?

Please, when asking questions, list all the pertinent info. Year, series, 2WD or 4WD and etc.

1973/79: You are asking for a part that does not exist, because 1973/75 is totally different than 1976/79!

And, the only clue to the fact this is a 4WD is by asking for a Dana 60 front driving axle.

1973/75 F100/250 4WD has a multi-piece lower steering steering shaft & coupler with replaceable parts including a u-joint.

The coupler connects to the input shaft of the steering gear box with a clamp & thru bolt.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1976/79 F100/250 4WD, 1979 F350 4WD has a one piece lower steering shaft & coupler assy. No individual parts are available for it.

It connects to the input shaft of the steering gear box with a rag joint.

There are FOUR different types of these lower shafts and coupler assy's.

Left: Example of multi-piece 3B676 lower steering shaft & coupler. It and the individual parts are the same: 1967/75 F100/250 4WD. A/T or M/T, with/without P/S (1973/75) makes no difference.

Right: Example of 3B676 one piece lower steering shaft and coupler assy.
