Mom is doing a little better each day. She now can speak alot clearer, you can hear and understand her from across the room. The seizure medication is working. She is starting to get some strength back, yesterday she was able to get up, with help, and get in the recliner for a while. One day at a time. Thanks for the prayers!
Glad to hear it tony! I'll definitely be praying for you. I lost my grandmother to lung cancer in '98. After seven strokes in a week she passed away quietly one night, with my grandfather right beside her. He never was right after that, and only lasted a few years.
I'm sorry I haven't given an update in a while, but things have been so busy that by the time I get online, I just don't feel like typing.
Mom passed away this afternoon. She went peacefully in her sleep. She was not in any pain.
Over this past month, the cancer of course had gotten progressively worse, at a fast rate. The brain tumor spread to the liver and back into the lungs. Also bone cancer started. Luckily though, the brain tumor was putting pressure on the part of the brain that controls pain. She was never able to feel any pain and never needed so much as a tylenol.
For the past week, we had been expecting it to happen any day. The last time she ate or drank anything was last sunday. They say that is an end of life sign. Since tuesday evening, she has been in a deep sleep, almost a coma.
I am glad that she was comfortable through it all and the family had a chance to say goodbye. Hospice care is excellent. The family is doing as well as to be expected right now. All of us kids live within 50 miles of each other and Dad, so we can at least be there for each other.
Thanks for all of your kind words and prayers. She's in a better place now.
damn tony...i'm very sorry for your loss. i know how this day is for you. you and family are in my prayers. blees you bud. hang tough as hollow as that sounds right now
I've started to reply twice, but haven't been able to come up the right words...I've never been good at this kind of thing, I don't handle sickness and death very well...All I can think to say is at least she wasn't in any pain. My grandfather spent the last year of his life praying every day that he would just die. He was diabetic, and he had one leg took off and the docs had starting at the foot and were working their way up on the other...So just be thankful that it was fairly quick and painless for her...Sorry for your loss.
I am sorry for your loss Tony,And am glad to hear that you are close enough to the rest of your family to be with them now.If you need a friend, you know where I am.
Tony ~ Words can't possibly express my sadness for you and your family. I can't even begin to understand the pain and grief you must be feeling right now. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Sending you love and hugs ~ Liz
