The intermittent system has a interval box and a special switch that goes with it. Lots of people on here have upgraded their regular wipers to interval, by changing the switch and installing the interval box. So the motor would be the same. I have never done it, but I seem to remember someone saying the interval box and the switch come wired together.
I took one out of my 89 E-150 and put it in my 88 E-350 RV. There is a box behind the switch. It uses the same connector whether it has the intermittent wipers or not. I'm not sure of compatible years for the 82 but it's likely a wide range.
The wiring harness connects directly to the back of the switch if you have standard wipers. The wiring harness connects directly to the black box if you have intermittent wipers. An extremely easy upgrade if the 82 is the same as my 89-88 swap.
