well one way to do it is to take the intake manifold off and youll see 3 #s right there. You can also count the # of bolt the valve cover has, is it a v8 or straight 6. A big block will fill the engine bay a small block wont as much. if u have pictures it can help to.

Its not a 302.
I have a 74 F-100 with a 302 and it don't look like that. (Mine is Smaller)
Is the 360 a Big Block? I never heard too much about the 360. The 390 was more popular.
If you plan on keeping the truck and working on it, I would spend the $16 and get a Haynes manual for your 74'. It will help a lot.

Ford doesn't use BB or SB terminology
Ford has Engine Familes,.
The 352/360/390 (truck engines) are in the FE engine family.
Maybe Go back to the main forum page and see the engine forums listed.
