I have a 2006 F250 with about 10,000 miles on it. For some reason the top of the dash has become sitckey over the entire surfact. I am wondering if this is caused by the sun? The truck is about 12 months old today and I can't belive the dash is doing whatever it is that it is doing. I have tried Armorall cleaner to get it off. I keep thinking it cleaned it off but as soon as the dash dries, the sticky returns.
I don't think the sun is the problem. I live in Texas and my dash isn't sticky. I do avoid Armorall though. It seems to me that it just causes "stuff" to stick to whatever it has come in contact with. Just my 2 cents.
Okay, don't think it was the Armorall, I used the Armorall cleaner wipes to try to get it off. The Dash has never been treated with anything. I may very well take it in and get them to replaced the dash...
My truck was like that when it came off the trailer at the dealership!, everyone that I've ever had in my shop has been like that,my truck has never had anything put on the dash except a damp cloth to wipe off the dust, I know people that use simple green ,it gives that same sticky feel ,my dash seems to be almost normal when it's cool outside , and gets sticky when it gets hot , there's some older threads on this , most guys just accept it as normal , even though we all know it's not , Craig.
I didn't have a sticky dash in my 99, and I don't have one in my 07. I've used Armor all in both. I would definitely be going to the dealer, it sounds like a bad batch of plastic.
Had the sticky dash on my 06, it is mold release agent and some of the chemicals leaching out of the dash do to high heat. I spoke with one of my buddies who details cars for a living, and he told me to clean the dash with a product like 409. So i cleaned the dash several times, in March, with 409 until all the residue was removed. No more sticky dash problems after that, and the truck sits outside in Phoenix air temps 115F. It will take more than one cleaning attempt and change the rags you use frequently as they will become saturated with the residue and you don't want to keep smearing it around. As for a good UV protectant for interior trim parts that does not leave a residue, "303 Aerospace Protectant". http://www.303products.com/tech/inde...TOKEN=54716248
It's heat based. Colorado in July, 55 degrees, no stick. Texas in August, 105, paper gets glued down in 3 hours. I'm trying a few diff. degreasers/cleaners on small outta the way surfaces to get rid of this.
409 will remove it and not damage the dash, i would be very careful with strong solvents as they may permanently damage the dash. Once it is completely removed, it will not come back.
well, if any of you are interested, i have a dash cover for an 06 sd for sale. i has the auto climate control unit and all the switches besides the power rear slider switch. pics in my gallery in the hid lights gallery.best offer takes it..
Mine did the same thing, it would also fog the windshield. I used a magic eraser and mild soap on mine. It does take a few times to clean it and let it build up before the problem goes away.
