hello i have got a 1988 f-250 5.8,4x4. and i was just wondering what a part is. The number on the part says E8TE=9E453-BA, and it is located on the passenger side fenderwell, right behind the air pump silencer. it is kinda oval looking and has 4 vacum line going to an from it there are 2 red and 2 black. it looks like maybe something to do with emissions,i dunno, but there was a small fire from the po and they are no longer connected to any thing and i was just wondering if i could take off with out some going haywire. thank you very much allen t. oh and the vacum line that are melted together go to the back of the motor and the other goes to the tree on the manifold, on trhe two that are separates are plugged. thank you.
It is a vacuum reservoir, the ball was used for the most part for the ventilation system and the Coffee Can one was used for the emissions it you have both of them.
Yeah, When you switch vent positions on the heater-a/c you usually hear a hissing sound as the vents change outlets (floor to panel, etc.) But look up the p/n to be sure. Plus since it controls the heater-a/c positions you might want another one.
Did the PO mention what caused the fire? You don't want it happening again.
the fire was from the massive leak from the valve covers, oil pan and everywhere else oil come from, but being that the truck was a fire truck, the fire was relitivy small, i was on the department, and when they came back they said that they was giving it up and two weeks later it was mine, so i fixed the leaks with info from here and she dont drop a bit of oil so if it she catches on fire again it will be from something else (lol)
