Check Engine Light & rough running engine on 5.4

I have a 97 f250 ld with 5.4 liter. the other day the ce light came on and the engine started to miss. I thought that it was the plugs, so I changed them last night. cyl #1 had redish/orange stuff caked on the plug. the rest of them had a redish/orange tinge to them. this did not fix the problem, but it shut off the ce light because I unhooked the battery. can any one help?

Sounds like one of your coils over the plugs has gone bad. I would suspect that your check engine light will be on again, soon.

Did your plugs look wore out or A OK except for the redish tint?

How many miles did you have before the problem started?
