I will and I hope this works. It just seems to me like a fuel issue and how can it be intermittent? I can go a week and not have an issue, then it can jerk or stall a few times in one day. It also seems to happen when I have the AC running. I just got done driving it about 100 miles this morning and not one issue with no AC running. I ordered the part and hope this works. Thanks for all the words of wisdom.

It is one of the most unbelievable symptoms we have with the 7.3. One day I am going to post my rabbit chase with this stupid sensor that cost me over $1700.00. I started thinking it was the Cam sensor and the one I replaced it with was an aftermarket (which was also bad having the same symptoms). After replaceing everything up to (and even) the IDM I thought I was going to replace the truck. So my last resort was to try one more Cam Position Sensor. I ordered the "new" B version and haven't had a problem since.

The symptoms are odd and different between trucks. My symptoms included when it rained it would cut out, similar to a miss. If I was at an idle it would just die. It seemed to be more prevalent if the truck was under a light load. Other people have reported it only happening when it was cold and some say that it happens all of the time.

If yours happens to be the CPS you are one of the fortunate ones that it has given symptoms before it actually dies. The description of your problem is consistent with a bad CPS. As quickly as everyone chimed in on the answer tells you that "we have all been there".

I carry 2 spares in my glovebox. One, if mine goes out again, and one for a fellow 7.3 powerstroker on the side of the road. Keep the one you took out and if it does not solve the problem then you have a spare. Cut-outs are usually related to Cam Position Sensors or chaffed wiring being the most common issues. Other items could be the problem but these are the cheapest and first place to look.

Trust me, I know how you feel, you currently don't trust the thing. Don't worry that trust will come back and then it will be the best truck you have ever owned. Mine is.

Thanks Doug! I ordered the part this morning and hoping it is here by the weekend. I will let you all know if that fixs the issue. Take care and thanks.

***UPDATE*** It looks like it was the CPS. I put it on Saturday morning and drove the truck about 150 miles to the dirt track races that evening and never had a problem. Thanks for solving this problem for me!

AWESOME! Glad to hear that was it. I have not heard of anyone having problems with the new "B" version yet. However, I still keep a couple spares in my glove box. Enjoy your truck!

Mine was doing the same thing and I replaced my black CPS with a blue at the end of the summer last year, ran great while the weather was cool. Now that it's hot again, the problem came back...replaced the blue one with the new gray one from the dealership.....NO CHANGE......still stalls at stops and bucks and shutters when driving with the TC locked.

I don't know where to look next?

Have you checked for any fault codes?

How old is the oil?...You may want to try a synthetic, or add some anti foaming additive....

I'll hook up the AutoEnginuity ASAP and leave it in the truck and let it run all the time to catch the codes as they appear. The only problem is getting the laptop from my wife....

I did a Rotella change about 2K miles ago. I still have my Blackstone sample sitting in my truck ready to send.

I don't know anything about HPOP and such...but it could be that.....

I found this thread posted a few days ago and it looks and sounds like my "gremlin": https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...17&postcount=6
