Well I finally got it!! I really haven't been able to drive it other that the 35 mile drive home from work but man is it nice. My last Lariat was an 05 and I thought that was nice but there are so many refinements, it seems like it's not even from the same family!
So far, I really don't miss the 6.0 PSD (I've been driving a V10 company truck for the past couple of months) i am really getting used to the peace and quiet

It is a combination of things for me. Don't tow as much as I used to. Price of fuel. Additional $5800 for the diesel v. $600 for the V10. Winter camping in -10 with no electricity for miles (hard, hard start on the 6.0), etc.
High fuel costs and the poor efficiency of the new 08' diesel were two of the contributing factors. ULSD is partly to blame though. They just don't pencil out like they used to.

That's kind of how I figured it.

Mainly the price of fuel, but those oil changes hurt too

As I posted in another thread, I've been searching for a while, but here in the southwest, you just can't find V10 Lariats. In my searches one dealer in my area had 64 SD's but not one V10. I have a feeling that if the diesel fuel situation doesn't improve by the time the 2009's start appearing (I don't see any signs that diesel prices will decrease much) that you are going to see some great incentives and pricing on the remaining diesels.
I've had my '08 F-350 Lariat for a year now and I love it. Bought a dually but did not get 4x4 this time. I also opted for the V-10, took me over 6 months to make up my mind between the V-10 and diesel. The diesel guys were the ones who finally made me decide on the V-10! Pulled a 15,000# 5th wheel to Florida and back this past winter and that V-10 just hummed along. Had no problem with the mountains in TN. That built-in brake controller is really the nuts!

I hear ya. If there are any gassers on the lots around here, they are 5.4 work trucks. There was a used V10 on a local lot that sold pretty quick, in a week or so. I think the dealers will start to stock more V10's if they think they can sell them, but for now, at least, the V10 still seems to carry the gas hog stigma and the dealers think they will be stuck with them, even though I still see Job 1 6.4's on the lots. I would like to get a new truck, but no matter what I buy, it will cost me more in fuel. Oh well, I guess I'll hang on to the old trucks a little while longer.
Yah these 2008 SDs are great. I test drove one the other day. Oh man talk about nice. Made my 2003 SD look bad. I have ridden in several friends Dodges an Chevies the o8 models an these new superduties just blow them away easily. The build quality on these New SDs is incredible. The chassis on these trucks makes the other look like wimps. 2008 superduty is the ultimate HD truck for sure. Congrats on your new truck. Hopefully there wil be a new SD in my future.
