Ordered my '09!

Well I finally placed my order for a Lariat. After much research & lurking on forums, I thought I was well versed on the truck & the ordering process would be uneventful. Up until order time I was really torn between the White Sand & Razor red. Well the color decision got a lot simpler when I scheduled an appointment with the dealer to place the order. I knew that the cut-off date for ordering an 09 was 5-8-09 (thanks to forum members). What I did not know was that some colors are dropped before the order deadline. One such color is White Sand. As of 4-17-09 it was discontinued as an 09 option (I believe Stone Green was also). Apparently White Sand will not be returning on 2010 models either. It is being replaced by Platinum White. Both colors are metallic, but the White Sand has a more yellow tint than the Platinum White. Anyway, I decided to go with the razor red. That was until my wife learned that I was not going with the White Sand. She liked the Razor red but just preferred the lighter color. So I was back into color search mode. She really wanted white, but since 3 our current 4 vehicles are white it was not high on my list. Plus, solid white trucks remind me too much of fleet service vehicles. After much discussion we agreed on Oxford white with Pueblo gold accent. This gives her the preferred lighter color while not looking like a generic fleet vehicle. Here is what was finally ordered:

2009 F-150
Super Crew 4X2 styleside (W12)
5.5’ bed (145”)
Lariat (508A)
Oxford white/Pueblo gold accent paint (YZ/G3)
Captain chairs, camel color (HW)
3:55 limited slip differential (XH9)
Power sliding rear window (435)
Bed extender (63E)
Tailgate step (63T)
Trailer brake controller (67T)
5” tubular running board (18C)
Lariat plus package (61L)
Rear sensing system
Rear view camera
Universal garage door opener
Sony Navigation system (58N)
Power moonroof (43M)

Thanks to all posters that helped in my research & purchase of this truck! Now the impatient wait begins.

Yeh picking colors can be very difficult on these trucks. But I think these new trucks look good in any color. congrats on the new trucks. Get some pics up when you get it.

Congrats on your order. I went through a similar color choice process also...not to mention I'm in that "impatient wait" mode myself (about 3 weeks to go). Spending time on this site certainly helps during the waiting. Looking forward to seeing pics of your new ride!

The wait does seem to take forever but then when it is here and you look back it seems like the time flew by. I have had my truck for a month now and couldn't be happier. Glad I got my Stone Green Lariat while the paint is still offered, since Blue Flame is not offered in a Lariat. Congratulations on ordering the truck, I'm sure you will love it when it comes in.

My local dealer has been trying to locate a similar Platinum model for me.
That would explain why White Sand has been impossible to locate in the configuration I was looking for.
A month ago there were several in stock.

I will be ordering one Monday in Sterling Gray.

Enjoy your new truck.

Wow, I am amazed that just three working days after placing the order I received the VIN & a build date of 6-17!

Did the dealer call you with this info. I have been waiting 3 weeks and I got nothing. I too am a little impatient. Any news would be good.

Just for a point of comparison, I ordered my '09 Lariat on 4/15 and was notified on 5/4 that the approximate delivery date is 5/25.

Well here's my comparison... I ordered my FX4 on 4/8, got an original build date in late May, but the build date eventually was moved up by almost 3 weeks. The dealer received the truck today. Picking up the new ride on Monday. I'm sure living in the Detroit area helps, but it will end up being 33 days from order to delivery.
