Induction Flash/Fan

I've been lurking for close to a year now, since I bought my '06 crewcab lariat, but haven't felt the need to post, as you guys are all a wealth of information and have answered my questions via searching before I've had the need to ask.

There have been several posts lately about "woooo" noises and fan's kicking on. I'm curious if these "sounds" started for you all after having the lastest induction flash performed?

I have had ZERO issues w/ my 6.0 with a little over 19K on it. No mods, except the muffler and the kitty ran away.

However, about a month ago, the dealer flashed to the induction flash based upon my request (in large part based on the feedback from FTE).

Since the flash, I've noticed the fan kicking on, usually during short trips buzzing around town, but also after 30 min or so of Hwy driving. Prior to the induction flash, I NEVER had the fan kick on, even w/ light towing. The gauge never shows running hotter than it ever has and I've not had any puking issues either.

So.... i'm simply curious if i now have an overheating issue and the gauge isn't showing it, or if the flash changed the temp at which the fans kicks in, or if this is just normal for driving the summer heat in South TX.

Thanks guys!!

When I had my '03 and now with my '06 the fan rarely kicks on unless the outside temps are in the mid 80's and up. Obviously the hotter it gets outside the more frequent or more of a chance there is of the fan to kick on. In Texas, I would think it would be perfectly normal to hear the fan kicking on and off.

The inductive heating flash did seem to turn the fan on earlier than before. I know it's based on several parameters, and have only heard it come on when towing about 7500 pounds with outside air temps upwards of 115 degrees.

If you don't already have it, get a real Engine temp gauge. Then you can really keep notes on the variables that you see when the fan cycles.
My fan usually comes on around 212 deg (coolant temp) irregardless of outside temp and driving style. Tow/haul mode and running the A/C probably has an effect on the fan, but Im not sure exactly what those parameters are.

Well it's been no where near 115 degrees in San Antonio lately, we're all about to drown from all the stinkin rain.

Gauges are on the list, I was hoping the livewire release would go better than it did and that would be my guage solution, as i don't really care for any of the analog or other digital gauges i've seen.

Suppose I'll schedule an appt to have her checked out.

Thanks for the responses!!

You may have a bad EOT sensor which will cause the fan to run excessively. The Livewire is getting straightened out, Matt has them as it is the only way to tune the new 6.4L. Call and talk to Matt about the Livewire as he is testing them again.
