Thanks to the people on FTE I had a fuel pressure gauge and saw that the fuel press was droping from a normal 50-55 psi to as low as 35. First thing I did was change the fuel filters & when I started the truck the pressure went to just under 50. Drove it anound the block shut it off & restarted & the pressure was at 35 again. Called Ford & have an oppointment for next Tue. It will be on a flatbed Tue morning.
Now a question for the experts. Thr truck was last at Ford in June '06 when the 2nd turbo was put in. Hasn't been flashed since then, no buzz or inductive flash or the latest flash. Spend part of the winters in Maine where the temps were at zero or below and with the block & oil pan heaters pluged in I have never had starting problems. Glad I never got the buzz or inductive flash but don't know if I should get the newest flash which seams to have some nice things in it.
What do you guys think. Hope to hear what the great Ford tech's on FTE think. Thanks in advance for any comments.
the newest flash has the feature that pre-heats the oil in the injectors, it helps to keep the spool valves from sticking and to eliminate cold start engine miss. my truck had a dead miss when started in the morning when I first bought. while at work I reprogrammed it and the problem is gone and been gone for 4 months. I suggest getting the update.
Thanks Kranch for your comments. After reading the negative comments on FTE about the buzz & inductive flash for cold start issues, I just wanted to know how the latest flash is performing. Not having cold start issues since the truck was new, I don't want to screw things up.
Cheezit: Glad to hear it's OK. Do you think driving the truck very carefully to get it home could damage the injectors? Probably drove it about 10-15 miles at 45-50 MPH. Thanks for the reply.
